This page explains the nature of New Stars gameplay, core mechanics, and how it compares to other games. For the ease of comparison, this game visually appears like Stellaris in many ways, however there are some core mechanical differences, not to mention the vast difference in scope of both games. A lot of mechanical inspiration is drawn from games such as Civilization VI, as you may find out on this page.

Duration

This determines the logistical modifier which affects things like base monthly resources, costs, upkeep, and the general pace of the game. It does not affect ship speed though, because having ships move incredibly fast or slow in star systems would be odd.

Logistical Modifiers

A ⅓ logistical modifier here would mean that resources, costs etc. are ~33.33% of normal speed. This is intended to allow the game to be completed in a quicker period of time.
